When You Left

When You Left

Time lost track of itself / it hurried and slowed / it stilled / it went / loose and limber / it stretched and bent

Sound barriers broke with a hushhhh that rolled in like a storm / it pierced / it boomed / quiet flooded the noise / and silence was sound’s new form

Memories no longer held their place / Like children they played and raced / Their hands grew dirty / Noses poking where they didn’t belong / Uninhibited, persistent, and strong
